JobSpeak, an index that showcases the current job scenario, states that the overall job index in February 2010 was 947, as compared to 808 in January 2010 and 1000 in the base month of July 2008.

Hitesh Oberoi, COO, Info Edge India, has said, “The recruitment activity accelerated in February 2010 reflecting the underlying strength and positive momentum in the job market. The ‘cautious optimism’ that pervaded throughout the last year and a half has evaporated as most industry sectors are now looking to hire.”

The job index has been calculated based on new jobs added to Naukri.com by clients and jobs acquired from Naukri.com’s existing clients by its tele-calling team month on month. According to Info Edge India, more than 34,000 national and international clients used Naukri.com in 2008-2009, leading to high reliability of data.

According to Info Edge, a change has been introduced in the methodology of computing the Naukri Job Speak index. The index will now not only include online jobs but also incorporate jobs acquired from existing clients by its tele-calling team. Although this data is a small component of the entire job postings on Naukri, addition of the same to the index will give a more holistic picture of the job market in India, the company has said.
