The cyber crime arm of Mumbai Police has arrested Suraj
Yadav, 35, a marketing professional who operated a travel agency in Mulund for
allegedly booking online tickets from the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism
Corporation Limited (IRCTC) website using fraudulent means.

According to the police, Yadav and a few others used a
software called ‘Speedo’. They would secure the details of people who
approached the travel agency, including details required to buy a tatkal
ticket. As soon as the bookings opened at 8 AM, the software would directly
feed the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited’s (IRCTC)
server with the information that was preloaded on Speedo. This way, they would
secure maximum tickets that were later sold at premium rates.

Following a complaint by the IRCTC, the police has arrested
another person involved in this case and is also looking out for the person who
sold the software to the accused. According to the police, the complaint was
registered by an executive working in the IRCTC’s IT department which stated
that, between April 1 and April 25, the accused had booked 44 tickets through
website.
