Real estate portal Makaan.com, a part of Anupam Mittal promoted People Interactive, has launched a new viral campaign hosted at ComputerChacha.com. Makaan.com claims that its earlier viral campaign KahaniMeTwist, which was launched in March 2008, attracted 1,54,350 unique visitors over a period of three months.

Aditya Verma, business head, Makaan.com, says that almost 20 per cent of the visitors who went to KahaniMeinTwist.com ended up visiting Makaan.com. Some of the key learnings from the first viral were the use of social media and blogging to reach out to the right target audience for the virals, Aditya Verma has told AlooTechie.

The Computer Chacha viral campaign takes inspiration from a popular chain email ‘Why Newton committed suicide’ that listed the top 10 weirdest movie sequences involving Mithun Chakraborty and Rajnikanth.

The creative, which aims to position Makaan.com as a strong search engine for India-specific property related information, has been conceptualised in-house by Puneet Goyal, brand manager of Makaan.com, and created by Delhi-based Clique Studios.

Makaan.com claims to have 2.3 lakh properties listed on the site and that it currently gets about 8.6 lakh unique visitors a month. With the launch of the Computer Chacha viral, Makaan.com hopes to further strengthen its popularity amongst the net savvy and affluent young Indian professionals.
