LinkedIn India MD Nishant Rao to join Freshdesk as COO

    managing director of LinkedIn India, as its chief operating officer. He will

    • Rao will be
      responsible for all non-­R&D (research and development) aspects of the
      company, Freshdesk said in a release.

    • “Nishant’s
      expertise in scaling operations across global markets makes him an excellent
      addition to Freshdesk’s executive team,” said Girish Mathrubootham, chief
      executive officer and founder, Freshdesk. “Nishant brings with him a unique
      blend of business and technical skills; his being a strong culture champion
      during his days at LinkedIn makes him a perfect fit for Freshdesk.”

      past two years, he has played a key role in successfully scaling up LinkedIn’s
      operations in India.

    • Rao is
      currently chairman of the Internet and Mobile Association of India and serves
      on the advisory board of the Confederation of Indian Industry’s national
      committee on skill development.

    • Before
      LinkedIn, Rao held executive positions at McKinsey and Co. and Ariba Inc. He
      started his career as one of the founding members of Epicenter Technologies,
      India’s first voice-based call centre.

      role in helping Freshdesk become a global powerhouse,” said Rao. “With its
      fresh consumer approach to enterprise SaaS (software as a service), I believe

      worldwide interact with their customers.”

    • Founded by
      Mathrubootham and Shan Krishnasamy in 2010, Freshdesk is headquartered in San
      Francisco. Most of its clients are in the US.

    • Early this
      month, Freshdesk announced the acquisition of Frilp, a social recommendation
      app for exchanging references and recommendations.

    • In August,
      Freshdesk made its first acquisition, 1CLICK.io, a video chat software, for an
      undisclosed amount to provide real-time video chat-based customer support to
      its clients.
