Odyssey, one of India’s premier leisure retail chains, which had ventured in to ecommerce by launching in 2009, expects to earn 15 per cent of its total top line revenue by March 2012 through this venture. Launched on December 2009, the website has seen 25,000 transactions till date, mostly across categories like books and movies. The website also houses toys and Odyssey gift vouchers, which can be redeemed in any Odyssey outlet.

“Books and movies are two of the most popular product categories bought on the internet. We are already in the business with stores all over the country and have sourcing tie-ups for any book or movie title. It was a natural extension for us to launch our own ecommerce site where we can offer customers a much wider range of titles and also reach out to cities where we don’t have a physical presence,” Praveen. C, AGM, 0perations, Odyssey India, has told AlooTechie.

According to Praveen, the company is also planning to add cash on delivery in our payment options in the website. “In future we are also planning to add more categories into the portal which will cater to all the customers online,” Praveen added.
