Update

According to Sanjay Aggarwal, GM, operations, IRCTC, the reasons why around 30 per cent people have not booked tickets after reaching the payment page could be that they might just be testing the system, or did not have required payment instrument, or did not have sufficient balance, or because of technical issues from the bank side etc.

“In fact, this (the data mentioned above) should be used only to understand the share and performance of different payment instruments,” Sanjay Aggarwal has written in an email to AlooTechie. “Of course these have nothing to do with cancellations of tickets.” Aggarwal would also like other major e-commerce players to publish similar data for comparison and analysis.
