hyperlocal push to counter the rush of orders during this year’s festive season,
as it targets sales of up to Rs 1,600 crore in the next few months.

    • The Tiger Global-backed marketplace has also lined up an
array of exclusive product launches to cushion the deep-discount sales that e-commerce
players offer to cash in on the festive spirit.
    •
    • According to management consulting firm Technopak Advisors,
the festive season this year is expected to generate close to Rs 25,600 crore
worth of business. The buying begins with Navratri, which falls in October this
year, and peaks on Diwali, which will be celebrated on November 11.

    • “We plan on doing Rs 1,000-1,600 crore of business
during the festive season till November,” said Radhika Aggarwal,
co-founder and chief marketing officer at ShopClues “This will be supported
by our tie up with the 2.25-lakh merchants on our platform, who double up as
our fulfillment centres from where local courier companies can pick and deliver
the product within a specific region.”

    • ShopClues recently launched a ‘neighbourhood market’ feature
on its mobile app to connect local merchants for each product category to
      customers for speedy delivery.
    •
    • “We are seeing good traction on the neighbourhood
market platform. This completes the purchase through local fulfillment,
delivery part and relies on local delivery partners. We have on-boarded
multiple local logistics partners over the last six months,” Aggarwal
said, adding that the model is particularly helpful in catering to the expected
rush of orders from tier-II and III cities.
    •
    • While last year saw deep discounting by all marketplaces to
increase sales, part of the transaction volume this year will be driven by
products especially for the online marketplace at lower price points.”New
and exclusive brands developed for the ShopClues marketplace will be seen
across categories at optimum price points,” Aggarwal added.
