Google to hire 300 engineers to strengthen its cloud computing R&D centres in India

Google plans to hire 300 engineers in a couple of years to double its engineering team in India and strengthen Hyderabad as its largest cloud computing research and development centre in the world. The company already has 300 engineers working in its Hyderabad and Bangalore engineering centres on cloud computing.

“India is a great market for cloud computing as it is the most price sensitive. Since cloud computing ensures efficiency and better utilization of resources, small and medium businesses are excited about it,” Peeyush Ranjan, head of engineering, Google India, has said. [Source: Economic Times]

According to Peeyush Ranjan, Google has around 3 million customers globally, including 1 lakh in India, using its cloud computing technologies. Cloud computing is web-based processing, whereby shared resources, software and information are provided to computers and other devices such as smartphones on demand over the internet.
