Google, LiveHindustan.com launch contest to promote Hindi content on internet

Google, in association with LiveHindustan.com, has launched ‘Hai Baaton Mein Dum?‘, an online essay contest to promote the creation of Hindi content on internet. The contest is open for Indians above 13 years of age. Entries can be submitted under five categories – entertainment; travel; sports; health; and social, economic and political issues. The last date for submitting the entries is January 31, 2010.

“We found that there was a lack of high-quality content in Hindi and other Indian regional languages on the internet. Through this contest, we want to spur the creation of high-quality Hindi content on the web,” Sanjay Jain, product manager, Google India, has said. “Currently, the contest is open to Hindi content only but we would certainly look at extending it to other languages.”
