Google India has invited applications for Google India Women in Engineering Award, 2010. According to the company, the award is open to female students of computer science enrolled in an under-graduate, post-graduate or doctoral programme at a recognized Indian institution. The applications can be submitted till October 31, 2009.

The Google India Women in Engineering Award aims to recognize and reward deserving women students in computer science and related majors, and inspire them to become active participants and leaders in creating technology. The awards are based on the candidates’ academic background and demonstrated leadership.

“Aspirants to the award will be assessed on their academic excellence, passion for computer science and demonstrated leadership. Winners will be announced in 2010 and will take home a sum of INR 100,000 (Rs 1 lakh) each. The winners will also be invited to join a conclave at the Google India engineering office, comprising a technical discussion with Google engineers, workshops, breakout sessions, panel discussions and the award ceremony,” the company has said.
