Google India celebrates Gandhi’s 140th birthday with a doodle

Google India is celebrating Mahatma Gandhi’s 140th birthday by decorating its home page Google.co.in with a Google doodle in which the initial letter ‘G’ of the company’s name has been replaced with a sketch of Gandhi, who was born 140 years ago, on October 2, 1869.

The doodles are overseen by Dennis Hwang, who joined Google in 2000 and has gradually been using the company’s logo to remind people of particular dates or events. Previous people featured in Google’s doodle include Albert Einstein, Leonardo da Vinci, Confucius, Louis Braille and Pablo Picasso. [via Guardian]
