Entertainment portal FridayMoviez.com has launched its WAP site m.fridaymoviez.com that will offer the users an option to view short films, varying from ten to twenty minutes in duration, on internet-enabled mobile phones. According to FridayMoviez, the WAP site will also allow users to access Hollywood and Bollywood information and news through their handheld mobile devices.

“The objective behind this WAP launch is an extension of what we are already doing on the portal,” Sushant Baliga, MD, Twilight Entertainment, which owns FridayMoviez.com, told AlooTechie. “The idea of short films came because not all of us can entertain ourselves while travelling. This WAP site will ensure we all have something to watch while we are constantly on the move.”
“We have a large collection of short films and will soon be adding more in regional languages as well. With mobile phones available to almost every common man across India today, launching this service will enhance our connect and also reach out to the increasing yet undermined, new-age genre of short film enthusiasts,” added Joyce Arora, editor, FridayMoviez.com.

When asked about the revenue model of FridayMoviez.com, Sushant Baliga said, “Besides advertising, which is the primary revenue model, the website also generates revenue through some other ways. For instance, the videos on FridayMoviez.com have pre-roll ads by brands like Dove, Axe and Idea Cellular. The website also allows side branding on its Photo and Video pages. As for the WAP site, Idea Cellular has already started branding itself on this mobile platform.”

FridayMoviez.com was inaugurated on September 3, 2010 by Bollywood stars Salman Khan, Malaika Arora Khan, Amrita Arora Ladak, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan. The website is edited by Joyce Arora who happens to be the mother of Malaika and Amrita Arora. According to Sushant Baliga, the website had over 20 million page views in November 2010.

Recently, FridayMoviez.com introduced YouTube channels for celebrities like Malaika Arora, Arbaaz Khan, Amrita Arora, Vikram Phadnis, Aditi Govitrikar and Megha Kawale where fans can watch their favourite celebrities share information in the form of short videos. The channels also allow fans to post comments and queries which are answered by the celebrities.

“We partnered with YouTube because people are always looking for reel and real content relating to the celebrities. This platform can be used by these celebrities to interact with fans, promote their projects, clear controversies and a lot more. We currently have 10 celebrity channels and have another 10 in pipeline.” informed Baliga.

“We are moving fast and once the launch of the WAP site goes smoothly, our next target is creating apps for mobile phones. This should be out in the next couple of months,” added Sushant Baliga.
