Infotel Broadband Services (Infotel), a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, has reportedly hired Arvind Rao, former Chief Executive of OnMobile
Global, for its 4G services, which are expected to be rolled out in 10 months. According
to reports in media, Rao has joined Infotel as head of innovation and platform.

After over 14 years of experience in
telecommunications, in July 2012, Rao had resigned from OnMobile after what the company called a
“special review of its corporate governance procedures”.

The company had said that Rao, who is also
a co-founder, resigned because the corporate governance “weaknesses”
were identified during his tenure. Mouli Raman, another co-founder and
executive director, will take on the role of interim MD. The company has also
started the search for a new CEO.

In June 2012, the board of OnMobile had ordered a probe against the company’s promoter and CEO
Arvind Rao for alleged misappropriation of funds accusing him of diverting
company funds to another entity promoted by him. The board has since asked KPMG
to conduct an audit to establish and verify the charges. The report also says
that the board has also fired the company’s M & A head Sandhya Gupta, as
part of the probe.
