Food ordering startup Bite Club raises Rs 3 Cr from Powai Lake Ventures, Others

Online food ordering startup Bite Club has reportedly raised Rs 3 crore in funding from Powai Lake Ventures with participation from angels including Aneesh Reddy (Capillary Technologies), Ashish Kashyap (Goibibo Group) and Alok Mittal (Canaan Partners). 

Online food ordering startup Bite Club has reportedly raised Rs 3 crore in funding from Powai Lake Ventures with participation from angels including Aneesh Reddy (Capillary Technologies), Ashish Kashyap (Goibibo Group) and Alok Mittal (Canaan Partners). 

The funds raised will be used for building technology, growing operations and expansion, reports VCCircle. “Currently we are present in Gurgaon. In a few months we plan to expand to Delhi and Noida,” Prateek Agarwal, founder, Bite Club, told VCCircle.

The company was founded in November 2014 by Agarwal, Aushim Krishan and Siddharth Sharma. While Agarwal and Krishan are IIT Kharagpur alumni, Sharma completed his higher studies from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

The Gurgaon-based startup provides a daily changing menu of wholesome meals that can be ordered via its Android app. The food is prepared by an aggregated community of home chefs, amateur chefs and professional chefs. The firm claims to have already served over 6,000 meals in less than 3 months to more than 1200 unique customers. 

It is working on a revenue sharing basis, and claims to be processing 250-300 orders per day with an average ticket size of Rs 180. The company further claims to have served over 6,000 meals to more than 1,500 customers so far. Customers can place orders via call, WhatsApp, as well as through the company’s Android app or Facebook page. 

Bite Club act as a technology and logistics platform that connects the maker of food (chefs) to the consumers (foodies). It is also planning to extend its services in Delhi and Noida.
