FlipKart unveils new design, eyes Rs 100 crore revenue in 2010-2011

Bangalore-based online retail store FlipKart.com has unveiled a new design of the site. According to FlipKart, the new design is a reflection of the website’s maturity and transition from being a startup to a full-fledged ecommerce company. FlipKart started as an online book store in 2007 and recently launched three new product categories — Movies, Music and Games.

According to Sachin Bansal, co-founder and CEO, FlipKart.com, the new design has been developed to make the website even more intuitive and easy to use for customers. “Apart from the new look and feel, we have made changes to our user interface to make it easy for our customers to find products on our website. We have also added subcategories just below the main categories like mobiles, books etc so that users can directly navigate to products they are looking for. The idea is to save the customer’s time by providing for better access to content,” Bansal told AlooTechie.

Speaking about FlipKart’s revenue expectations in 2010-2011 fiscal, Sachin Bansal said that the company expects to earn around Rs 100 crore. “We have seen steady sales from CDs and DVDs and foresee a huge growth in mobile sales in 2011. Book sales, as always, are following the growth trajectory,” added Bansal. The company also plans to expand into many more categories like consumer electronics and increase variety in the currently available categories.
