FlipKart India Pvt. Ltd, which runs ecommerce
portal FlipKart.com, has announced that it has completed the assessment
procedure to validate its compliance with Payment Card Industry Data Security
Standard (PCI DSS) 2.0, a leading security standard for payment card
processing. This makes FlipKart.com one of the few Indian ecommerce platforms
to receive this certification.

The PCI DSS certification has been awarded
to FlipKart India by SISA Information Security Pvt. Ltd, a qualified security
assessor from PCI Security Standards Council. SISA conducted an extensive
independent audit of FlipKart India’s technology operations and processes to
certify its compliance with security requirements developed by the PCI Security
Standards Council.

Meanwhile, FlipKart has also just launched ‘Save
Card’ feature on its platform. This feature enables users to save and invoke
the details of an existing credit or debit card in their account, thus doing
away with the additional step of typing in card information for every
transaction. After the PCI DSS certification users can be assured that FlipKart
India uses world class encryption technology while saving card information on
highly secure systems.

Mekin Maheswari, President, Technology, Flipkart
India said, “At FlipKart, we have always focused on technology that can make
the platform for ecommerce not only easier – but safer as well. With more and
more transactions happening online, it has become extremely important to be
able to offer a trust-worthy and secure payment environment, particularly when
we are adding user-friendly and time-saving features like ‘Save Card’. An
endorsement of our security standards from a recognized body like SISA should
further bolster trust in our payment technology platform.”

Dharshan Shanthamurthy, CEO, SISA Information
Security, mentioned, “The SISA Qualified Security Assessors (QSA) have worked
closely with FlipKart India to ensure practical and cost-effective solutions
and their implementation. SISA has years of expertise in conducting the PCI-DSS
assessment and certification audit across the globe for the various well-known players
in similar verticals.”
