Deap Ubhi, executive vice president, new media and internet, Infomedia18, is expected to leave the company and the country (India) in April 2010. According to Ubhi, he is planning something in the general ecommerce space, but the business will be based out of the United States.

Ubhi is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Burrp.com, an online local guidance platform for the Indian metropolitan market. He led Burrp through two rounds of funding and grew the company to employ 40 people before it was acquired by Infomedia18 in April 2009.

“For me, it would be a natural time to disengage from the firm (Infomedia18), given the fact that Burrp has reached a certain level of maturity. Our other new media products have established product teams who are working hard to make them happen,” Deap Ubhi has told AlooTechie.

Ubhi further said that he is an entrepreneur at heart and likes to build stuff with people he loves and respects. “I am working on a business plan that will not be for the Indian market, but I plan on maintaining my development team here in India, since we have got some really kick-ass guys,” he added.
