Speaking about the idea, Jerome Quadros, founder,
DealFlats.com said, “We were influenced by the group buying model that
Groupon.com pioneered in the US. But we were not interested in consumer deals.
The idea for DealFlats crystallized when we noted that buyers were finding the
current high property prices unaffordable, whereas builders were open to the
idea of discounted prices provided bulk business was assured.

Speaking about convincing builders to offer
deals online, Quadros said, “Self and our two marketing professionals contact
the builders and explain to them what group buying can do to stimulate sales in
the currently moribund real estate market. We give them the example of consumer
deals websites like Snapdeal, Taggle, Koovs, Mydala etc who have become a rage
with consumers seeking ‘value for money’. Many of the Builders who were
contacted are favourably disposed towards the idea but their formal acceptance
is awaited.” The company is also launching CarBikeDeal.com as a portal solely
devoted to group buying of cars and bikes.
