Cyber Media accuses IPL website of plagiarism

Cyber Media has alleged that IPLT20.com, the website of Indian Premier League (IPL), affiliated to Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has reproduced an article published in CIOL.com without the permission of the copyright holder.

Cyber Media has alleged that IPLT20.com, the website of Indian Premier League (IPL), affiliated to Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has reproduced an article published in CIOL.com without the permission of the copyright holder.

The said news article titled ‘IPL new stress buster for techies’ was original published on CyberMedia’s website CIOL.com on Tuesday, 23rd April 2008. On Wednesday, the news article was republished on the IPL website (http://www.iplt20.com/IPL-new-stress.html) with minute changes. The republished article, titled ‘IPL is new stress buster for techies’ didn’t mention the source, CyberMedia claims.

Ironically, BCCI had earlier imposed media restrictions (later diluted on the face of criticism), in an attempt to protect all the internet rights related to the IPL Twenty20 tournament, CIOL reports.

The IPL website IPLT20.com has been developed by Canada-based Live Current Media which recently bought the rights to build portals of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI.tv) as well as Indian Premier League at a combined cost of $50 million.
