Chennai based jewellery ecommerce portal, CaratLane.com has launched
its first television advertisement campaign across the country. Designed by Contract
Advertising, the campaign aims to establish the importance of a ‘proposal’ even
in the context of arranged marriages. The ad provides a fresh take on arranged
marriages in India; narrating the story of the man proposing to the
unsuspecting girl, in private, moments before they exchange rings formally in a
room full of people attending their engagement.

CaratLane Co-founder and CEO Mithun Sacheti said, “We could
not have picked a better story line for our solitaires. Indian men should
realise that an arranged marriage is no excuse for why they shouldn’t propose!”

TVC has been directed by adman Prakash Varma – the man
behind the iconic Vodafone ZooZoo campaign, among many others.

Founded in 2008, CaratLane has already launched its offline
center called ‘Solitaire Experience Lounge’, in New Delhi and Hyderabad. We had
reported earlier that having added the hybrid model of online at retail,
CaratLane is targeting overall revenues of Rs 150 crore for FY13. In June 2011,
CaratLane.com had raised a funding of $6 million from New York-based hedge fund
Tiger Global.
