Burrp.com, the local lifestyle listings portal from
Network18 Group has launched its Android app through which users can filter their
search by locality and cuisine, view menus, pictures and reviews by other
burrpers. Users can also post reviews and upload pictures, share via Facebook,
Twitter, SMS or email. According to the company, the app will send users notifications
about what’s happening in the city.

The company has already launched Blackberry, Windows and IOS
apps earlier. Speaking to India Digital Review on the reasons behind entering
the Android market late, John Kohlhoff, Head, Marketing, Burrp said, that blackberry
was the flavor of 2009 -10, IOS was in 2010 and Android was the biggest
upheaval in the mobile industry from the latter half of 2011. “Keeping in line
with the changing technologies, we have also progressed accordingly and kept
pace with the needs of the customer. The growth in 2012 of the Android market
in India alone has been over 400 percent and is the 4th largest Android
country.  There have been tons of apps on
the Google Play Market and there were no guidelines that needed to be followed,”
said Kohlhoff.

Revealing some numbers, Kohlhoff said that there have been over
2.5 lakh downloads on different platforms altogether, and iOS is the most
downloaded of all, recording more than 127,000 installs spanning across all iOS
devices.

“Across all our apps within the network18 group we have
nearly 40 lakh downloads. We have an approximately 90,000-100,000 unique active
monthly users on our Burrp iOS app. On the BlackBerry platform, we have about
36,000 unique active users on the Burrp app,” added Kohlhoff, further informing us
that the reach of Burrp on mobile has jumped quite fast from 28% to 42% in the
last 1 year

Speaking about his plans for Burrp Apps, John Kohlhoff said, “We
have some exciting features lined up in terms of recommendations, featured
events, etc. Our effort to ensure that all the platforms i.e IOS, Blackberry,
Windows and the latest Android, are constantly being upgraded to answer the
requests from customers through interactions on our Tweets, Facebook comments
and blog posts.”

“In our conversation with over 60,000 Tweeters
across our 8 Twitter handles, we have already received numerous applauses for
the Android App, while some have made mentions of some enhancements which will
be evaluated as user satisfaction which is our key objective,” added Kohlhoff.
