State-run BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) plans to set up 30,000 broadband internet kiosks in rural and remote areas of India in the next two years on a franchisee basis. Each Kiosk is expected to turn into a self-sustaining model over a period of three years.

The kiosks would extend broadband connectivity to those who have no alternative access to the facility, and to those who have little to spend on such services. The rural people shall pay a small fee to access the services, reports Economic Times quoting a senior BSNL official.
