Battery Ventures plans to open its office in Mumbai; promotes Ramneek Gupta to Partner

Battery Ventures , a US-based venture capital and growth investment firm, has promoted Ramneek Gupta to Partner. Gupta, who is currently based in US, will now move to India and open the firm’s office in Mumbai later this year.

Ramneek Gupta is responsible for the firm’s Indian investments in Tech Process, Tejas Networks, Travelguru and Highmark. Gupta joined Battery in 2006 and focuses on investments related to India in the technology, financial services, media, education and specialty retail sectors.

Battery Ventures is looking for opportunities in consumer finance, consumer internet, mobile, software, tech-enabled services, BPO/ITES, components, infrastructure and communications services and clean tech.

In India, Battery Ventures is currently interested in the opportunity to partner with entrepreneurs at early stage where it may invest in the range of Rs 4.4 crore to Rs 44 crore ($1 million to $10 million) as well as at growth stage where it may invest in the range of Rs 44 crore to Rs 132 crore ($10 million to $30 million).
