the site has been discontinued from May 12, 2011 and AOL mail as well as the AOL mobile site are still fully functional. The company had been
restructuring its content strategy for India since last year. The development
was first reported by Pluggd.in.

In a emai to AlooTechie, an AOL Worldwide spokesperson said, “We’re very excited about the Indian market and are focused on AOL’s core capabilities around building the most compelling consumer facing products.  Our Research and Development team is currently focused on India–first and other product development including new opportunities in the mobile and portal space.” In March 2011, it was reported that AOL was considering a
layoff of around 60 to 70 per cent of AOL India’s employee strength which was about
1,000 employees then.
