Following AOL‘s acquisition of The Huffington Post, the company is considering a layoff of around 60 to 70 per cent of AOL India’s employee strength, reports The Times of India. AOL India currently has a head count of about 1,000 employees. According to the report, AOL’s technology operation teams in India would be merged with a successful bidder and work with AOL on a contract-outsourced model. The current bidders for these groups include Infosys, MindTree, TCS and ITC Infotech.

The TOI report further stated that the process has already begun, with some managers telling their teams that their units would be shutting down. Tim Armstrong, CEO, AOL had recently said there would be job changes in the organisation, but these would be done thoughtfully as he was sensitive about layoffs because his father had once been laid off.
