Alva Bros Entertainment launches digital arm; names Shruti Gupta as business head, digital

Alva Brothers Entertainment (ABE), the owners of media properties Matchbox Films, production house Miditech and broadcast company Real Global Broadcasting has launched its digital division to offer services across web, interactive and mobile platforms. The division will develop digital properties for the group as well as syndicate premium content to key partners across categories like lifestyle, education, and infotainment, for urban and rural audiences.

The division will develop digital properties for the group as well as syndicate premium content to key partners across categories like lifestyle, education, and infotainment, for urban and rural audiences.

To spearhead the new media initiatives, the company has appointed Shruti Gupta as the business head – digital. Prior to this, Gupta had been working with NDTV Convergence, where she was heading the content vertical for mobile value added services.

The digital division has already started working on the website of the company’s food based TV channel Food First, which is focussed towards building interactivity as well as content consumption for the channel.

Commenting on the launch of the digital arm, Nikhil Alva, chief executive officer, Alva Brothers Entertainment, said, “We want our audience to be able to access our content across devices, as best suited to their needs and preferences. We firmly believe in the triple-screen play, and are fully geared up to create quality offerings across mediums. With the ever-increasing number of mobile and internet users, we are very positive about the opportunities that the market possesses. We are also bullish on the prospects that 3G has opened up, especially for producers of premium video content.”

Speaking about her plans and priorities in the company, Shruti Gupta said, “We are creating specialised video content that offers a rich viewing experience on mobile and computer screens. Our focus is on products that are relevant, informative and entertaining. We will extend these products to local languages and localised content, to add a wider appeal.”
