Alibaba’s affiliate faces anger over data share, tenders apology

The move came after users got angry after its Alipay service starts a service to share data on their spending habits with Ant's credit-scoring arm and other third-party services.

Ant Financial, an associate of e-commerce giant Alibaba and one of the world’s leading digital financial services providers, tendered an apology after controversy erupted over checked-by-default option on its an-nual bills that allowed its credit scoring system to access user data.

The move came after users got angry after its Alipay service starts a service to share data on their spending habits with Ant’s credit-scoring arm and other third-party services.
