Airtel launches ecommerce store housing handsets, Digital TV, and Broadband connections

Bharti Airtel has launched its new ecommerce portal, called
Airtel Shop, which will offer deals on mobile handsets, digital TV, and
broadband connections. Mobile phones sold through the site will be made
available and delivered by NSI Infinium Global, a courier service provider,
with which Airtel has formed a partnership.

The store is powered by Infibeam’s Build A Bazaar platform
(the company also powers The Mobile Store, Crossword and the recent addition
Vijay Sales, among others).

According to the company, sers will be able to
buy Airtel plans for mobile, broadband and DTH service through the website. We
expect that Airtel users will get special offers through this site. The company
also claims to offer up to 33 per cent off on mobile devices with exclusive
Airtel plans, up to Rs 500 cash back on new broadband connections and Rs 250
cash back on new digital TV connections.

Meanwhile, in March 2012, Samsung India Electronics had launched
Samsung eStore in India providing customers a shopping platform to make online
purchases. The store SamsungIndiaestore.com currently houses Mobiles, Tablets,
Laptops, Netbooks and Accessories.

In January 2012, Nokia India had partnered Indiatimes to
launch an online store for its range of mobile phones called NokiaShop. The
backend of the website is powered by the Indiatimes shopping engine and the
stocks are supplied by the Nokia distribution network as it is a joint venture
and authorized by Nokia India.
