68.5% of India’s online population visited a social networking site in Feb 2010: comScore

According to a study by US-based internet research firm comScore, 68.5 per cent of the total online population in India visited a social networking site in February 2010, reaching a total of 24.5 million visitors. Google-owned social networking site Orkut, which reaches 46.8 per cent of the country’s web population, continues to rank as the top social networking site in the country.

The comScore study further reveals that internet users in India on an average spent over 2 hours on social networking sites in February 2010, and visited the category an average of 13 times during the month. The study included internet users of 15 years and above and excluded searches from public computers such as internet cafes and access from mobile phones or PDAs.
