55% women in India aspire to be like Kiran Bedi: Shaadi.com survey

According to a survey by matrimony portal Shaadi.com, 55 per cent women in India aspire to be like Kiran Bedi, the country’s first woman IPS officer; while 43 per cent prefer actress Kajol as their favourite Bollywood Bahu. The survey, which witnessed the participation of about 2.5 lakh women, was conducted as a as a part of the Women’s Day celebration and sought to list out the most popular women in real life, on television and on the silver screen.

Kiran Bedi was the clear winner from the list that included Sushmita Sen, Kalpana Chawla, Sania Mirza, Indra Nooyi, Shobhaa De, Sunita Williams and Shabana Azmi. Besides actress Kajol, others vying for the position of favourite Bollywood Bahu were Aishwarya Rai, Gauri Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Malaika Arora, Twinkle Khanna and Kiran Rao.

Gourav Rakshit, business head, Shaadi.com, has said, “The Women’s Day Poll is part of the constant research that Shaadi.com conducts in its attempt to gauge the preferences of its members. The results show that today women are looking to be more independent and are willing to adopt stronger roles in their life. Women of today have a belief in themselves and aspire to emulate top achievers in their field.”
