  1. Comscore has a faulty system
Comscore has a faulty system that allows websites to select category that they want to be part of without any cross checks from Comscore.

This means even the websites that is not even in news space can be shown under news category.

In this report wherein NYT Digital is shown as second largest player. One needs to be aware that New York Times Digital’s main audience is coming from About.com and a minuscule number of over all NYT Digital is from NYT.com which is actually their news brand. Given this, one does not know how much to rely on the data given by Comscore wherein categorization itself is wrong.
