Nitish Bhushan, Asia Manager, Tripda, said, ‘We are very excited to sponsor NSIT Moksha 12th Edition this year. We would like to encourage students to use ride sharing as a medium to commute as it is a cost effective and fun way to travel. We have received great response from the student community so far and are very excited to now extend a hand to NSIT to experience the services of Tripda and enjoy the benefits of carpooling.”

Founded in 2014, Tripda is a global carpooling platform rapidly expanding throughout Asia, Latin America and North America. The company, which was founded in Brazil, currently operates in 13 countries worldwide.

Users simply log on using a Facebook accound, choose whether they want to find or offer a ride, and type in a destination. They can even choose travel buddies based on things like travel budget and common interests.

There are no transaction fees charged and users determine the cost of their ride via a calculation system on the Tripda platform which takes into account the cost of owning a car, fuel costs and toll charges.

Tripda is equipped with a variety of safety features such as a user-rating system, ladies-only rides, Facebook-only login, privacy of information and freedom to choose who to ride with.

Tripda is backed by Berlin-based and recently listed Rocket Internet. In January 2015, Tripda raised $11 million in Series A funding round by Rocket Internet and other investors. The company plans to use the funds to expand its global operations and grow its user base across 13 countries where it operates, as well as continuing to develop its web and mobile product for multiple markets
